Support the future of Black Rock Forest

When you give a gift to Black Rock Forest, you help preserve a diverse landscape in the Hudson Highlands, fuel research advances in ecology and earth sciences, and provide hands-on field experiences to thousands of students, nurturing a lifelong commitment to science and environmental stewardship. Your generosity allows us to do all this – and more. Thank you!

A designated gift to our endowment or one of our special funds offers long-term support and ensures that we thrive for generations to come. Whether your passion is conservation, research, or education – your contribution can inspire and sustain the future of Black Rock Forest.

Gifts of all kinds are accepted with gratitude, but here are some of the specific funds you may support:

  • The Schuster Fund for Research honors three decades of leadership by Bill Schuster, our former Executive Director. This fund strengthens the research component of our mission, supporting studies conducted by staff and within Black Rock Forest.
  • The David Redden Conservation Science Fund celebrates the legacy of our long-time Board member and chair. This fund supports our annual small grants program and the Conservation Speaker Series.
  • The Educator Fund ensures the continuation of environmental education programs at Black Rock Forest. These funds maintain the long-term position of the Director of Education.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowship and Higher Education Fund provides crucial resources for our postdoctoral program and supports the ongoing development of undergraduate and graduate opportunities.
  • Infrastructure Funds help sustain the buildings and lands that are essential to the functioning of Black Rock Forest.
  • Storm Recovery Funds help Black Rock Forest rebuild after the July 2023 storm that destroyed forest roads, trails, bridges, and buildings.

If you would like to donate to our endowment or one of these restricted funds or to discuss other ways to designate your gift, please don’t hesitate to contact us

Thank you for your support,
