Summer Research Intern Spotlight: Kat Burgstahler is a senior at Pomona College in Claremont California, where she majors in Biology and Music. This summer, Kat is helping BRF collect data on underpass usage along highways. This data will contribute to our understanding of which species use culverts to cross the highway, which tunnels are most suitable for animal usage, and how connected these populations are on either side of the highway. Kat is particularly interested in which mammals use these tunnels, focusing on carnivores including bobcats and fishers.
