Visitors enjoyed a fun-filled Forest Festival at Black Rock Forest on Saturday September 28th. The day began with an educational program for all ages about pond life at Aleck Meadow Reservoir. Attendees were shuttled to Sutherland Pond for a day of fishing while other visitors attended programs about the History of Black Rock Forest and also Bobcat Ecology at the Stone House. Back at the Science and Moretti Center attendees could participate in planting native plants, making a conservation collage or yoga. Hikers could choose from a Biodiversity Hike on Sibyl’s Path or a Sketch and Hike near the Reservoir. Avid hikers chose the scenic route featuring 3 peaks and 5 ponds/reservoirs. The eventful day was capped by a David Redden Conservation Science Lecture on wildlife corridors. The day truly featured something for everyone!
Black Rock Forest will be closed to the public from November 16 - December 8, 2024, for NYS Regular Deer Season for hunting
