In June of 2016, Black Rock Forest Consortium celebrated a new conservation designation for Black Rock Forest, which was named an Important Bird Area (IBA) by Audubon New York. A joint press conference with Audubon on Saturday, June 4th was followed by coverage in The Highlands Current, the Times Herald Record, The Sentinel, and The Cornwall Local. Wayne Hall of the Times Herald Record also wrote a column on the Forest's threatened birds.
The activity "Neuroscience & Behavior of Hydra" was featured as part of Black Rock Forest Consortium's annual Fall Family Day program in the Times Herald Record on September 30, 2015.
The Summer Science Camp was featured on June 27, 2014, in the Gainesville Sun with partner field station Seahorse Key Marine Laboratory. The camp was previously featured in Audubon magazine online in September 2013, and in the Orange County, New York's Times Herald Record on July 21, 2013.
Nature magazine interviewed Black Rock Forest Consortium's executive director for an article on the importance of biological field stations on November 14, 2013.
The National Science Foundation featured Consortium scientist Joel Cohen's use of Black Rock Forest's long-term environmental data in an online article on June 21, 2013.
Black Rock Forest Consortium's efforts to protect wildlife were featured by Westchester, New York's Journal News on April 30, 2013. An article on the Black Rock Forest-Schunnemunk wildlife corridor also appeared in the Times Herald Record on April 9, 2013.
