Join the Green Ride!

It's time to start training for The Green Ride!

Scheduled for Columbus Day Weekend, October 11-13, 2008, the ride will once again treat bicyclists to an unforgettable trip along the Hudson River, up and over mountains, and through rolling farmland -- all while raising money for Black Rock Forest and its education program's.  Last year's inaugural ride attracted 18 riders and raised nearly $50,000 for the Forest.

Riders begin and their three-day, 260-mile journey at the Cloisters in upper Manhattan's Fort Tryon Park, travel to the Catskills and back, and spend both nights in the Black Rock Forest Lodge.  The ride is fully supported, largely by volunteers who provide everything from signage, to cooking and cleaning, to entertainment.

Participants commit to raising at least $1800 in contributions from friends and family; the Green Ride organizers provide guidance and support for doing this.

This year's Green Ride promises to be bigger and better than last year's.  Sustainable Hudson Valley has signed on as an additional particpant and beneficiary and  many 2007 riders are convincing their colleagues to join them this year.
